JUDITH FEIN

Judith Fein specializes in deep culture by day and memorable accommodations at night. She’s given a TEDx talk about Deep Travel; blogs about Transformative Travel for Psychology Today; reviews films and opera; has given inspirational keynote addresses for many travel, writing, and journalism conference, and teaches creativity and curiosity to individual groups and to PR and Marketing professionals. She has contributed to 110 publications including Smithsonian, National Geographic Traveler, Afar, Hemispheres, AARP, New Mexico Magazine, Luxury Magazine, Spirituality and Health Magazine, the Huffington Post, and is the Senior Travel Correspondent for the San Diego Jewish Journal. She’s the co-founder and Executive Editor of the award-winning group travel blog YourLifeisaTrip.com, which has more than 250 writers.  She was a Hollywood screenwriter for 13 years, ran a widely acclaimed experimental theatre company in Europe, and wrote the libretto for the opera The Hotel Eden with composer Henry Mollicone, which garnered rave reviews.


Judith has been interviewed as a travel and writing expert for many radio programs, TV shows, podcasts, Internet, and print publications. Her most recent books are: LIFE IS A TRIP: The Transformative Magic of Travel; THE SPOON FROM MINKOWITZ: A Bittersweet Roots Journey Through Ancestral lands; and HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE DEAD: And How Cultures Do It Around the World. She is currently at work on a new series of books that combine memoir, travel writing, and epistolary non-fiction. Her motto is: I live to leave.  Her backup motto is: I live to learn.
